Here are the highlights from our live talk at the George and Dragon Pub, Ilfracombe, North Devon, UK. Our speakers are the very talneted witches and mediums Ann Kenny and Fae Vowles.

Witches were perceived as evil beings that were pagans devoting their life to the devil. However, this isn't the case most of the time. In most cases, witches work with nature and their surroundings and are often now known as wise women and healers.

The term witches caused hysteria around the 1400s. They would be tortured, ridiculed and put to death if they were accused of being a witch.

To be accused of begin a witch, you would have to

• Be female

• Financially unstable

• Having black cats and knowing herbal work

• Having too many female friends

• Your neighbour is having difficulty conceiving

• Being vocal and independent

• Having a wart or birthmark

Realistically this hysteria was a scare tactic from the church to inflict fear in people. But this doesn't mean that there were no witches around.

Entities - Paranormal

Many people know of shadow people, evil spirits, and poltergeists. In numerous locations, we can come across these types of beings. Over the decades, there have been numerous accounts from people who have witnessed the same apparitions!

The question is, why?

• Within the paranormal world, people know of entities like shadow people, evil spirits and poltergeists. In many haunted locations, people may encounter these types of entities
  

• These beings can often give you a sense of anxiety, nausea, and mental health, amongst other sensual feelings
  

• Some may make themselves known through our vision
  

• •Others may come forth as a foul smell, growls, dreams and even being physical with ourselves or equipment when we investigate

Poppets

When looking at a poppet, your first thought may be a voodoo doll.

They may look similar, but they are different; voodoo dolls come from voodoo which is a closed practice that witches can’t do.

A poppet is a small doll or bundle that has some sort of motive. This could be protection or for something to gain.

Witches can also make one to harm. But in this case, we will see it as a way of protection.

Runes

Runes are the Germanic alphabet that magic practitioners used.

There are many types of the runic alphabet, but today we will look at the elder futhark runes. 

These runes here are what I use when protecting myself, and they are also great to use around your home to banish away unwanted energies.

Feeling Energy

Spirits, humans, animals & insects cannot only feel the energy but also manipulate energy.

• Witches can manipulate the energy a little more freely
  

• Witches can feel energy shifts as we are more Intune with nature
  

• Witches work with many different types of energy forms daily

Witches can receive energy but also perceive and work with it completely differently.

Light protection in our daily lives

• White light: all-purpose protection great for physical and physic attack `

• Gold light: highest vibrational colour meaning that only the energy of the highest good can get through, used for general protection
  

• Green: healing & rejuvenating. Use it when you are sick or ill
  

• Lead shield: the ultimate shield against toxic energy. Use it whenever you're going into a toxic environment, around conflict or feeling vulnerable. You need to see or feel surrounded by the light weighted lead.
  

• Mirrored ball: use this if you feel vulnerable to attack or when you have to go into a particularly harsh environment. See or feel yourself stepping inside a mirrored ball. All dark energy bounces away from the ball.

Staying grounded is a big factor; this is simply keeping your mind and aura positive, calm and relaxed.
